- Bluedome has a service offering and a culture quite close to ours, says Grethe Viksaas, CEO of the Basefarm Group. - This joining of forces has clear synergies. Their focus on new business within the Security area for example, is a very good match with Basefarm's own ambitions. Providing high-end cloud services with local support is another good example.

With this latest acquisition we are sending a clear signal to the European- and especially the Dutch -market that Basefarm is a company with ambitions.

Basefarm already has established a solid position in Scandinavia, delivering high-level, mission critical managed hosting to media companies, directory services, e-commerce businesses, financial institutes and the public sector. Earlier this year Basefarm acquired the Norwegian hosting specialist Webdeal.

Bluedome is a well-known and respected managed hosting company in the Dutch market, working with high profile customers in the Netherlands, such as, D-Reizen, Radio 538, SBS and Funda. We see clear similarities in our customer’s needs. – By joining forces with a strong organization such as Basefarm, our core business areas will be developed significantly faster and more effectively, says Hans Wetsteijn, CEO of Bluedome.

Both companies are specialists on application management, enabling them to provide their customers with the highest level of managed hosting. The Basefarm groups hosting services ranges from cloud computing to full-blown dedicated environments, delivered from any of their six superior datacenters spread over Holland, Sweden and Norway.

Strengthened position

Basefarm’s ambition has, since 2008, been to expand their business in the Northern Europe. The strategic plan was accelerated when Reiten & Co Capital Partners VII L.P., a fund exclusively advised by Reiten & Co, made its entrance as majority owner in December 2009.

– This acquisition is in accordance with the strategy and goals we set out with Basefarm’s management at the start of our ownership, says Christian Melby, partner in Reiten & Co.

Bluedome is well positioned in a more fragmented market, in regard to hosting providers, than the Scandinavian market. Together the two will aim at taking a strong position as a flexible, high quality, right-sized partner for customers with business critical IT-services.

The companies’ expertise encompasses a wide range of cloud and internet related technology, as well as state of the art hosting and application management experience.

— Together, we should be “the one to contact” in the area of secure utilization and management of the Internet and the Cloud, says Viksaas. – We also believe this is good news for our existing, non-Scandinavian customers, she adds.

Together the two companies will have a turnover of EUR 45mio+ in 2011, and have approximately 260 employees.
